Now we arrive at the fifth hall: Myeongbu-jeon.
In the afterlife, the place one enters is called Myeongbu, which is overseen by Bodhisattva Jijang. That’s why this hall is also sometimes called Jijang-jeon.

Bodhisattva Jijang is known for his vow to save all beings from hell until the arrival of Maitreya Buddha, following the passing of Sakyamuni Buddha.
Inside Myeongbu-jeon, the principal deity, Bodhisattva Jijang, is surrounded by the Ten Kings of the Underworld.
It is said that after death, there is a period before reincarnation, during which souls remain in the realm of Myeongbu and are judged by the Ten Kings based on their past actions.
Their judgment determines how one will be reborn in the next life.
